New Years Resolutions. To be or not to be....

Happy New Year scrumptious people!!

So….who made new years resolutions this year???

Like most of us I usually do.  I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s more of a likelihood that you’re setting yourself up to fail.  I don’t know anyone who actually keeps his or her new years resolution?

I think mine over the last ‘few’ years has always been the same old boring ones:
  • Lose weight – 15 kilo’s
  •  Give up smoking
  • Pay off credit cards
  • Blah blah blah….
Boring right!  Lose weight, well I must admit I did always try and I tried very hard, and always failed.  I did however manage to lose 20 kilo’s in 2011 without even trying.  So yay, finally a big tick after that one!!

As for the other 2….well the credit cards get paid, and then they get used again so it becomes a vicious cycle that goes around and around with no end in sight.

Smoking….well I try, then I have a few drinks and light up again.  I actually enjoy smoking.  While I might not enjoy the shitty after taste or the smell of second hand smoke, I love having a nice cigarette (menthol is my vice) with a drink of an evening.  I’m not a big smoker, maybe 2 a night - unless I’m having a drink then it’s usually much more!!

This year however, I didn’t.  I decided instead on new years that I would set myself a list of goals! Same same, but different.  My goals for the year have been listed to 3 categories. Personal, professional and financial.

Personal…
  1. Script writing course
  2. Photography course
  3. Find suitable course for mum to gain school education
  4. Keep blog updated – 40 posts minimum for the year
  5. Become recommended blog
  6. Get fit/tone up for a ‘fitness based charity challenge’
  7. Stop smoking

Professional…
  1. Achieve fundraising target
  2. Maximise mentorship program
  3. Read fundraising books
  4. Read fundraising magazines/newsletters/blogs – keep updated!
  5. Keep abreast of other charities events, successes & failures

Financial…
  1. Consolidate debts/refinance mortgage
  2. Have rates paid off by June and then pay off in one hit to receive discount
  3. Have body corporate paid off by April
  4. Book & pay for Bali trip by March

I think that these are all achievable and realistic goals and I'm sure I will add to these over the next couple of months.

Today, I set the wheels in motion and enrolled in an 8-week short course in photography, and I have put my name down for a script-writing course.

Let’s hope 2012 is a wonderful and successful year of goal kicking!

Until next time, have a wonderful day scrumptious people!!
