Hello scrumptious people!
I had the most scrumptious weekend in Sydney hanging out with my siswa's, Irene & Chrissy. They both collected me from the airport on Friday night and we just hung out at Chrissy's place drinking wine, laughing lots & playing boggle! Then it was off to bed at a reasonable sober hour!
Saturday morning was up early and Irene & I went out to a beautiful little cafe in Bondi called Gertrude & Alice.
After this we were off to the Bondi Markets for some flowers. I grabbed some orange tulips for Chrissy and some Poppies for Lourdes who was having her 5th party later that day. She was so impressed and told me that they were the first bunch of flowers she's ever been given!
After the markets we were off to Lourdes' 5th birthday party in the Chinese Gardens in Darling Harbour. What a totally scrumptious place. It's an inner city Zen zone and beautiful chilled space and sanctuary. They have a costume shop where you can hire traditional Chinese attire to wear around.
We all donned some fine Chinese robes and played dress ups for the afternoon. Such a wonderful and inexpensive fun time for the kids. Great idea and spot for a kids party!
Sunday was a typical lazy Sunday. We just cruised. Had chocolate croissants for breakfast, pottered about the house and then we headed into the NSW Art Gallery. Had some lunch there and then spent the next 3 hours checking out some of the exhibitions. You really need a full day to get the most of it, but we still managed to see a lot in the 3 hours.
We checkout out a cinematography piece from Sam Smith, an exhibition by the late great Aussie artist, Margaret Ollie, and loads more. After this Chrissy dropped me over to my best male friends where I was staying for my last night. Jas & I just cruised into Balmain and had a few drinks at a pub and then headed to dinner with his lovely new girlfriend.
Now I'm home sweet home and looking forward to a good sleep in my own bed. I've picked up some horrid throat infection while down there (hopefully it doesn't progress to anything worse). My old immune system seems to be crap at the moment and I'm catching anything to passes by....
Sydney really is a wonderful city. There is so much on offer to do at any given time of the day. Now that I know about the Chinese Garden, it also provides beautiful sanctuary from the hustle & bustle of city living. It is undeniably rich in culture and the arts and is full of funky little hidey-holes and things to do. Not sure if it's somewhere I could permanently, but i'd definitely give it a go!
Until next time scrumptious people!
xx
